and are guaranteed for 125 virtual machines due to the sufficiency of the included storage and computing power. The company’s online configurator specifies how much and which technology is needed according to your requirements. Mike also pointed out that Pivot3’s is the only box certified to run the full Horizon Suite and that migration to a virtual environment using same array is no problem should the client wish to do so. Customers could also be confident in their boxes, with VMware’s High Availability (HA) failover technology being used in the event of box failure. Full-blown MS Workspace software is shipped with the P Cubed box, out of the factory. A key differentiator for Pivot3 is enabling customers to ‘payas-they-grow’ and scale as needed simply by adding boxes. The usual route to this is to do a ‘proof-of-concept’ using the P Cubed product, and then just scale up accordingly. Pivot3 has apparently had a very successful proof of concept conducted in the UK with the NHS, and the upcoming VMworld event will accordingly showcase a complete medical workspace solution. Why Pivot3? Mike believes that Pivot3 can lay claim to being the simplest, fastest and cheapest player in this VDI arena, and that the simplicity of the system, the ultra-fast set-up time and the ability to scale and ‘pay-as-you-grow’ is a killer combination. “Pivot3” he says “is essentially delivering an enterprise-class product at entry level costs.” Technical Resources Mike also took time to detail some of the ‘go-to-market’ strategies of the company. A ‘Try-Buy’ programme was recently introduced in Europe and has proved incredibly successful, with a 95% conversion rate. The same programme will be coming to South Africa in 2014. A ‘Test Drive’ programme also exists whereby clients can logon to the website, which simulates 400 virtual machines running at full power. Clients gain logon credentials on the Pivot3 website, and then can play around in the virtual desktop environment for up to one hour to simulate how their virtual environments could look and function. Mike Holt Director of Channels & Strategic Alliances Pivot3’s resources will then work out the equipment needed and calculate a five-year return on investment. Mike also pointed out that technical resources are also available, and highlighted the ESG Lab Review and the VDI Tech Overview as being two of the best. Finally he also revealed that there will be exciting new products being released both locally and internationally in the near future. Clearly the market will need to keep an eye out as Pivot3 continues to innovate within the VDI arena. Pivot3 also features a VDI Online Configurator. Clients can logon to the website and enter the types of virtual desktops and number of desktops which are needed.
