From the MD Welcome to our Fourth Issue F rom its humble beginnings, Cloud Computing has rapidly become a pervasive element in all aspects of the IT industry and there’s no doubt that its rise has changed both the IT industry as a whole, as well as the distribution channel more specifically. It was with this in mind that led First Distribution to create a ‘Hosting’ division within our business model – essentially an aggregation of managed and hosted solutions from our various vendors who offer compelling products within that space. It’s this division that we focus on in this issue, having a chat with our new Cloud and Hosting Business Unit Manager Kevin Derman, as well as better getting to know some of the employees who make up this department. I would also like to take this opportunity to personally welcome Kevin to the First Distribution team, and wish him every success in his new role. At First Distribution we’ve constantly got one eye on the future, and are always looking to ‘future-proof’ our business wherever we can. Knowing that Cloud is an integral part of the future has led us to be as proactive in this regard as possible – look out for more imminent developments along this line with the launch of ‘First for Cloud’.
