Letter from the President Continued from page 3... approach. Owners share their thoughts and discussion takes place. The Board has worked with David Pella, Executive Director to tweak our guidelines and our enforcement practices. The changes have been well received and made us much more efficient. We are currently working on revising our website, application and social media presence. You will see more improvements in that area next year.
As you can see, we have made much headway. Your current Board has spent hours and hours meeting, discussing, brainstorming idea regarding making FCCSA better. We respectfully ask for your support in continuing this effort. We are making good headway and want to see this progress continue.
The Board is particularly grateful to the leadership of our FCCSA Staff. David Pella is in his second year of leading the organization. We could not ask for a more knowledgeable HOA leader who has years and years of experience. Steven Wagner leads our Accounting / Finance efforts which include the budget and investing. We are very pleased with his leadership, insights and strategies to keep us healthy financially. Katie Discianno leads our inspectors and our compliance department. We have made good strides under her leadership, and we appreciate the many hours she puts in to help keep our neighborhoods looking good. Bill Grantham has lead his department in implementing all of the capital improvements, including working with the Landscape Committee, and ensures all other amenities remain operational.
Two years ago, your newly elected Board worked very closely with the staff. Matter of fact, we did some rightsizing of the staff to make sure owner money was being well spent. This last year the Board has been able to back way off and allow the staff to do their jobs with much more freedom. The staff does not feel micro-managed by the Board and can freely do their jobs.

Do you receive community emails regarding updates, meetings, and community events? If not and you would like to, please email your name, address, and phone number to Molly Discianno at mollyd @ firstcolony. org and she will add you to our communications distribution list!
As you can see, we are pleased with the progress we are making on several fronts so far this year, including the renovation project for the FCCSA building and the Aquatic Center which continue to make progress.
A special note: If you are considering running for a Board Seat, please realize this is a serious position and requires a very large commitment of your time. It does not work very well if a Board Member does not participate accordingly. With that being said, the three incumbent Board Members that are running again have all been active participants in all of the forms of meetings listed above. Most of the other candidates running have not attended Board Meetings these last two years, but yet they want to represent you as a Board Member. Please do vote and please ask yourself if you like the progress that has been made over the past few years.
We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday December 3rd at Constellation Field.
Regards, Doug Reed- FCCSA Board President
