This year, we’ re honored to introduce our Honorary Chairpersons, The Diaz Family. Rob, Richard, Lara, and Kenny’ s story is one of resilience, love, and unwavering hope.
Their son, Rob, now 18, was diagnosed with Asperger’ s just before turning six. When insurance denied coverage due to his“ high-functioning” label, the family turned to music, movement, and each other to fill the gap left by professional services.
Rob thrived for a period, but at 16, he experienced a severe emotional breakdown. Through relentless support and resilience, he pulled through. Today, Rob recently graduated high school with honors and is headed to Texas State Technical College to study Cybersecurity.
The Diaz family story is just one of many autism journeys that inspire the annual tournament. It’ s why we play.
