I want to thank all of the members who attended the meeting. Fiscal 2013 was a big year for FCCC. Obviously, the most significant event was the approval of our capital improvement plan. But when I look back on 2013, I am struck by the positive way “change” was embraced at the Club. I remember a year ago I was talking with members about the new relationship with Sequoia Golf. Would the Board have control over all critical decisions? Would we see radical changes in the way the Club was run? What about opportunities for the employees and department heads? How will it work for all employees to work for Sequoia? Well, one-year later I can say that I am very pleased with how the transition was completed. We had a strong financial year, the transition for the employees was seamless, the golf course and grounds were in excellent condition, and our service levels and willingness to go the extra mile were on display throughout the Club. I want to thank the department heads of FCCC for delivering a great year during a time of transition. Fort Collins Country Club had a great year due to your leadership. I also want to thank the members for their engagement throughout the year. We had a great year in golf, tennis and the pool. We tried several new food and beverage events along with our popular traditional events. Thanks for enthusiastically participating in 2013. I saw a great sense of community and commitment to our club throughout the year. This sense of community is why Fort Collins Country Club is the club of choice in Northern Colorado! In 2014, the Board and I will spend much of our time executing the capital plan. We hope to have identified a lending partner and a general contractor for the project by mid-November. We will also focus our attention on attracting and retaining members throughout 2014. We are pleased with the numbers for 2013 (up 24 full golf members), and need to execute on membership in 2014 to deliver our capital plans. I’d like to thank retiring Board members, Mark Heiden, Mac Danford, and Gordon McClintock for their service and dedication to the Club. Your contributions have been tremendous. I’d also like to welcome Sean Tomlinson and Yaron Goldman to the FCCC Board. It is going to be a great year. Words From Our GM Scott Szymoniak, General Manager Where has the year gone? It has been non-stop since I arrived this past January, and looking back we have accomplished many things. My sincere thanks to our staff for their open-mindedness and patience as they got used to me and I got used to them, and also to our members for the overwhelmingly positive response to the Club’s strategic plan. It certainly is an exciting time at the Club. I am looking forward to being in Fort Collins this holiday season and celebrating with you at the Club. We have all of the traditional events scheduled like the Great Pumpkin Smash, Gingerbread House Decorating Party and the Santa Brunch. We are also adding this year a true member holiday party to celebrate YOU and YOUR FAMILES! The “Night of Lights” will be December 20 and will begin with dinner at the Club. Following dinner, we will be loading everyone on buses (one for kids only and one for adults only) and touring the town to look at lights and sing carols. Make sure to put this on your calendar! A BIG thank you to all of the members that made donations and participated in the “Fight the Flood” tournament we held on October 21st. We were able to raise $11,160 that will be matched by the Bohemian Foundation for flood relief. The donation was made on behalf of the Club to the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. Last, but certainly not least, an even bigger thank you to Sunie Liley. For 16 years she has tirelessly served as the Club’s Catering Sales Director, and in that time has administered over 10,000 events…can you believe that! Sunie has resigned her position at the Club and will be taking a much-deserved break before beginning to work with some of the non-profit organizations in our community – something she has always wanted to do. We will have some big shoes to fill here at the Club, but at the same time are happy for Sunie and wish her nothing but the best in her new endeavors.
