Think Carefully
Be Your Own!
Do you want to have a more active
chapter? Do you want input from a
professional? Do you just think this
is a good idea? It is a more practical
idea to get a speaker out of a
specific need, not out of a dire
desire. If your chapter is going to be
hosting a town or school wide event,
have a local councilman come in and
discuss aspects of doing so.
Remember, members will only come
and maintain interest if a topic
pertains to them.
How many times have you shared
with your fellow FBLA members
something inspiring or interesting
about yourself? Odds are, as a
member of FBLA, you have countless
stories, moments, and experiences
that have shaped your outlook on life.
Host a meeting or an event where
students and members each give
speeches about themselves and their
experiences in the professional world.
It’s
a
win-win.

Go Virtual
If speakers cannot attend a meeting in person, there’s nothing stopping
you from doing a Google Hangout or a Skype Session. Exchange
contact information over email, and when the time comes, broadcast the
Hangout over a projector or SmartBoard. This may be less intimidating
than meeting in person.
