CLASSES FOR EVERYONE

Creating a circuit racing event that truly accommodates anyone and everyone is extremely challenging. But that is exactly what the FAW Eastern Cape Time Attack does.
The Eastern Cape is home to some of South Africa ' s most committed racers and dedicated motorsport fans. And at the FAW Eastern Cape Time Attack, there are classes for essentially everyone.
Time attack racing brings together a terrifically diverse collection of cars. From true daily drivers. To incredibly trickedout time attack machines, where no expense is spared to optimise aerodynamics and overengineer powertrains. That diversity appeals to fans, letting them experience cars that are relatable( the daily drivers) and extreme( the time attack ' specials ') on the same track, over the same weekend.
The FAW Eastern Cape Time Attack will feature Classics on Saturday, with Modified Saloons and Street Cars on Sunday. South African motorsport fans who appreciate the country ' s rich history of modified saloon racing will see some terrific legacy cars enter the Classics class on Saturday.
The last year of manufacture eligible for entry into the FAW Eastern Cape Time Attack Classics for the event ' s Saturday schedule is 2005. For competitors and motorsport fans, that means a terrific historical catalogue of eligible cars. From locally built homologation specials of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, to exciting ' youngtimer ' cars now entering
a phase of renewed interest and collectability.

Anything( and everything)

One of the most exciting classes is Classic Car H1. This class is for street cars up to 2005, so it includes those wonderful Japanese WRC homologation specialists and JDM touring-car homologation models from the 1990s and early 2000s. For those whose pathway into motorsport fandom was virtual, through Gran Turismo, the FAW Eastern Cape Time Attack Classic Car H1 class makes it worth it to see some very interesting Nissan GT-Rs.
On Sunday it ' s a mix of everything modern, from true daily drivers to essentially unlimited modified race classes. The Street and Race Cars classes feature the same four sub-category definitions, but with different prefixes.
The sub-class numbers and technical definitions are as follows. Normally aspirated cars with four cylinders or less are 1, while the same cylinder configurations with forced induction are 2. Naturally aspirated cars with five or more cylinders are 3; turbocharged or supercharged versions are 4.
The prefixes for Street Cars are ' A ' and for Race Cars ' B '. The same 1 to 4 engine category definitions apply for Single Seaters, Sports Cars, and Sports Prototypes, but with the prefix ' C '.
Some of the most entertaining drivers will be those in the Street Car A 1 to 4 classes. Featuring everything from true daily driver hot hatches to exotic supercars. Then there ' s the Tuner Class, including one of the world ' s most remarkable Lotus Exige builds, powered by a VW engine.
