The Little Bike That Could
It ’ s one thing to ride crosscountry on a motorcycle . It ’ s quite another to ride cross-country on a 250cc sportbike , and to load that sportbike down with a full-sized rider and enough gear to camp along the way . That ’ s exactly what Dexter Ford did on his 12- day , 3,500-mile journey from Manhattan Beach , California , to the Adirondack Mountains of New York on his lipstick-red Honda CBR250R . Like any sensible two-wheeled traveler , Ford avoided Interstates and wound his way through scenic areas like Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks and the Black Hills of South Dakota . He even ventured off pavement from time to time , as he did on a stretch of the Pony Express Trail in Nevada . Photo by Dexter Ford
