Reformation is an LA based fashion label, the brand started by selling reworked vintage pieces but since then has expanded online now selling everything from everyday basics to wedding looks and party dresses.
Refscale is a system Reformation use to let their customers know the impact that each of their garments have on the environment. They do this by calculating the pounds of carbon dioxide emitted and the gallons of water used and then the pounds of waste that are generated. Reformation then compare how there products reduce environmental impacts compared to other brands brought in the US. This information is shown on the label of each of their items also online. They do this so customers can see the total cost of fashion and can make empowered decisions.
Reformations factory uses the most Eco friendly technologies and practices by investing in a green building where they minimize their waste, water and energy. 100% of the factory's energy is sourced by wind power and the company is working on installing on site solar panels but are currently using only LED lighting. The brand recycles up to 75% of their waste but zero
waste is their goal.
Over three quarters of Reformations management team are women and the brand are proud to pay their workers fairly. They also provide their workers with benefits such as health care and are working to provide their whole HQ with metro passes to encourage the use of public transport.
Reformation provide their staff with one paid day off per month to volunteer and give back to charity, they reward staff by offering benefits for staff with the highest amount of volunteer days. Another thing the brand does to give back is on staff birthdays donating to TreePeople an organization that support urban forests in LA by planting a tree in their name.
