With the growing Missguided success, they have recently increased their advertising on a variety of platforms, London Bus’s and TV for example. Again their advertising is bold and unique, with bright pink bus’s helping to build their brand image.

Topshop on the other hand is more minimalistic and simplistic with their advertising. Topshop doesn’t focus so much on the social media side of things but more on the television and in store advertisement as well as their emailing systems. Topshop as a store has a huge section of the retailer market and a lot of windows in which to advertise in, in the High Street and shopping centres. Their television ads are also a lot more frequent then that of Missguided.

Generally, an older audience are more likely to see a television ad while the youngsters are hooked to their phones. Topshop is also huge of celebrities collabs. The recent launch of their IVY PARK range with Beyoncé sparked huge interest selling gym and loungewear to which has been hugely popular. Topshop’s ads generally tend to be more minimalistic than those of Missguided also. A model in an outfit with the word TOPSHOP across is minimalistic yet effect for the Topshop team because of the strength pf their brand image- these appear in a lot of magazines.

Comparing the two… While Missguided ops for a bolder and bright style of advertising, using social media as their main focus, Topshop focus’ on billboards, magazines and emailing followers to spark interest, possibly because they are aiming to the older section of the demographic while Missguided maybe the younger. Overall, I think that aiming at the target audience, Missguided does an incredible job using social media as their advertising platform and at 17, scrolling through my phone I see nearly double the amount of Missguided adverts to Topshop and their adverts are effective and bold. Their fun and unique which makes them identifiable which is something that in the future, will build Misguided’s brand image stronger and could make them as big as Topshop on the market if they were to open stores. So, big ticks for the Missguided advertising team for their beautiful campaigns- whatever you’re doing girls, it’s working.
