Estimated at 130 million years old Taman Negara National Park is a vast 1,677 square miles of verdant jungle , fast-flowing rivers and sky-high peaks . The park is a haven for a huge variety of wildlife . Whilst you ’ re unlikely to see elephants , tigers and leopards , which tend to stay well hidden , you ’ ll be compensated by the song of insects and birds , tropical flora , towering trees and with luck , may well chance upon lizards , deer , snakes and even the occasional monkey swinging between branches . Get your own bird ’ s eye view of the forest with an amble across the world ’ s longest canopy walkway . At 147 feet high and 1,673 feet long , this suspended rope bridge is a must do activity . At ground level , marked trails help you explore under your own steam , although it is advisable to join a guided trek . There ’ s also fishing and bird watching ( there are over 250 species here ), spectacular caverns to explore , river cruises and visits to the Orang Asli people for a glimpse of their nomadic lifestyle .

Perched above the junction of the Tembeling and Tahan Rivers , the Mutiara is the park ’ s only resort . DAY 1 KL / Taman Negara National Park
Drive for about three hours to Labu Sentral Jetty where you ’ ll board a covered wooden longboat and travel up-river on a fascinating journey to the resort where you arrive late afternoon . After dinner , you have the option to join the night jungle walk during which you ’ ll enjoy an orchestra of jungle noises from cicades , night insects and other animals .
DAY 2 Taman Negara
Subject to weather conditions , venture into the nearby forest for a gentle trek through the riverine , lowland and mixed dipterocarp forest to reach Teresik Hill , from where you can view Mount Tahan , the highest mountain in Peninsula Malaysia . Try a balancing act on the canopy walk whilst enjoying the aerial view of the beautiful rainforest . This afternoon , proceed to Lata Berkoh by boat , where you can soak in the cool water pools and cascading waterfalls .
DAY 3 Taman Negara / KL
Morning at leisure . This afternoon board a boat for a five minute ride across to the opposite side of the river and then travel onwards by road to KL . Alternatively , why not extend your tour and stay an extra night in the rainforest ?
