Khanom

Sleepy and traditional- plus pink dolphins too!
Ferry Terminal
Thailand- Khanom
Seekers of serious peace and quiet should put Khanom high on their holiday hitlist. It’ s a true unspoiled gem with a relaxed way of life, a smattering of small hotels, sheltered bays and deserted beaches where more often than not you’ ll see just your own footprints in the sand. Beautiful beaches aside, the scenery is utterly beguiling with soaring limestone peaks peering over palm-tree lined roads, lush coconut or rubber plantations and stilted wooden houses. Check out vast stalactite caves, relax in refreshing waterfalls, kayak through mangrove forests and experience natural exfoliating fish spas in mountain rivers. An eco-minded boat trip in search of Khanom’ s unique pink dolphins is a must-do! The offshore waters provide a breeding ground for this rare albino variety with its striking pink hue, so there’ s a good chance of spotting them. For a flavour of local life, browse stalls of exotic foodstuffs, clothes and more at one of the regular markets, or wander to the harbour to watch as fishermen unload their catch of the day. After dark, if it’ s a party scene you’ re after, then you’ ll be disappointed. Look forward instead to lingering over drinks or a flavoursome meal at the handful of bars and restaurants around Nadan Beach.
