Are you in favor of your local pet store? Well some countries are not. In the United States, West Hollywood became one of the many cities to ban pet sales, after its city council approved a law to prohibit the sale of dogs and cats. Many cities, such as Florida, Missouri and New Mexico are also joining the movement.
The United Kingdom was the first country in the world to accept laws that protected animals, and after many non-profit organizations were created, more countries joined. Today Canada started with a petition to remove the sale of animals and promote adoption from animal rescue centers and shelters for a very small fee so they can afford saving more of this little but amazing lives.
In New Zeeland every year one hundred puppies die and suffer being bought and sold for profit interests, these puppies are only being sold for commercial reasons and the authorities are not getting involved. According to www.change.org an article called "Prohibit the sale of puppies through pet stores and on-line traders" say that millions of petitions to ban pet stores have been sent to the authorities, but there is still no response.
