The worst thing is that they don´t only hurt themselves, because finally they hurt all their family and their friends by pushing them away.

The people with anorexia think that they can control their disease and they don’t want any help. No matter how skinny they become, because it´s never enough!

As I just mentioned before, people with anorexia are always lying. It is important that you as mother, father, brother, sister or friend be careful with those who you love. If you suspect something is wrong with someone or they have change physically, psychological and/or behavioral, you should ask for help, because each day, the problem becomes harder.

Psychological and Behavioral signs:

•Insisting to be overweight when they are thin

•Obsession with calories, fat grams, and nutrition

•Pretending to eat or lying about eating

•Being preoccupied with food

•Refusing to eat

•Inability to remember things

•Depression

•Stop doing things

Physical signs:

Excessive weight loss

•Absent menstrual periods

•Thinning hair

•Dry skin

•Brittle nails

•Cold or swollen hands and feet

•Bloated or upset stomach

•Downy hair of the body

•Low blood pressure

•Abnormal heart rhythms

•Dark Circles

What to watch for…

•Skipping meals, excuses not to eat

•Eating only few foods

•Refusing to eat in public

•Constantly weighing themselves

•Cutting food into very small pieces

•Obsessive with exercise
