Is Socializing or Having a Friendship Outside of School Important ?

Students socialize and make friends within the school because they spend most of their time inside school . However , as students receive more work and have less free time , less time is provided to students to socialize outside of school . This raises the question : How would students maintain a friendship outside of school ? According to 10th grade student Annyka Ma , he believes that it is important to socialize outside of school because you will be able to have a bigger social life with more friends . He also believes that friends outside of school can share different opinions and knowledge . 10th grade student Hyeontae An also believes that it is important to socialize outside of school because he thinks students need to do activities outside of school and adapt within different communities . However , 10th grade student Jimmin Yoon believes building friendship outside of school is not as important as having friends within school . According to Yoon , his friends outside of school always distract him from classwork by sending messages . He also said that friends outside of school can not help him much with his school responsibilities , since they learn different things from him . However , friends in school can help your work and they can even teach you in person if you really do not understand something . Although , Yoon believes that having friends in school is more important , he thinks there are no disadvantages of having more friends .
I asked all three of the interviewees , what would they usually do if they want to build a friendship outside of school . Ma claimed that he usually goes online and socializes with people that have the same interests as him . He said there is a website about his favorite game , where he shares his opinions about the game with other players . An also claimed that he makes friends by joining sport clubs and academies afterschool . He said although the main purpose of academy is to study but he can still make a lot of friends that are in his age . Yoon said he also make friends outside of school through academies . All three interviewees claimed that they hang out with their friends about two to three times a month . “ I play with my friends 2 to 3 times each week , mostly to improve our relationship ,” said An . I also asked the three interviewees whether it is harder to maintain a friendship in school or outside of school . All three interviewees agreed that it is harder to maintain a friendship outside of school . Mostly because students spent most of their time in school during week days so naturally , they will hang out with their friends in school . Meaning more time is spent on friends in school than friends outside of school . In conclusion , students find it to be important to build friendship outside of school , but most friendships are based on the people they hang out within school .
