USCG AUXILIARY DIVISION 15 SUPPORT AT WALLY LAKE FEST

• Wally Lake Fest is an annual end-of summer evet that packs the best parts of a Pocono Mountains vacation into one epic weekend . It ’ s three days of food , music , sports , shopping , tours , and activities for all ages This two-day event highlighted the first time participation of United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Northern Lakes Division 15 in an area where our presence could greatly enhance boater safety , education and recruiting .
• Marine Safety Information Booths were located indoors at the Visitors Center and outdoors at the Lake Wallenpaupack High School in Hawley , PA . Both information booths had informational tables for Boat and Marine Safety , The Marine Safety booth was manned by Kim Getz Jim Johnson , Dave Bronson , Avo Zaytounian and VCDR Bob Vanderhook educated over one hundred seventy-three interested visitors who stopped by to learn some valuable tips on Marine Safety and recreational boat safety along with multiple interested visitors who took the various free informational material and pamphlets on display .
• Vessel Examinations were conducted both days at the Wilsonville Recreation Area and PPL Public Boat launch by DCDR Ivan Meixell , VCDR Bob Vanderhook and Jim Sheridan . More than 20 vessels were inspected . Wilsonville Recreation Area management was impressed by our presence and requested that we return next boating season to conduct boating safety classes , as well as conduct more vessel inspection at the Wilsonville Recreation Area and Lake Wallenpaupak .
• The Wally Fest committee for Division 15 Consisted of , Chair Anthony V . Wojnar VFC , SO-PV / NS , Assistant Chair , Kimberly Getz , FSO-MS , SO-MS , Jim Sheridan SO-FN , Avo Zaytounian SO-PA , SO-IS , with direction from Division 15 DCDR Ivan Meixell . All the participants were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by DCDR Ivan Meixell .
