HAZARDVILLE WALKING TOUR / ( Saturday ) STOP AT SMOOTHVILLE SMOOTHIES School Street – 2:00 p . m . - 5:00 p . m . Hazard , owner of the Hazard Powder Company . Business and industry grew rapidly around its main industry . This walking tour begins at the playground at the corner of School Street and Hazard Avenue . The tour will head up School Street , then head east on Hazard Avenue past the Hazardville Fire Department and the former Bridge Manufacturing Co . to Park Street . The tour continues past St . Bernard ’ s Church and School , the former Hazardville Hotel and Cannister Hill . The tour turns east past the former Enfield Pharmacy and the Old Hazardville Cemetery . The tour continues past the Hazardville Institute building , the Connecticut Valley Tobacconist , and ends at the former Hazardville Grammar School . ( Participants will park on School Street along the Hazardville Playground )
ENFIELD STREET WALKING TOUR / SMYTH ’ S TRINITY DAIRY FARM ( Saturday ) Enfield Street School - 1:00 p . m . - 4:00 p . m . October 9 ( Rain date October 16 ) Fee $ 29 – Jim Malley ( Refreshment Fee Included ) No Surcharge , No Senior Discount Enfield was founded in 1683 , originally a part of Springfield , Massachusetts . The Town of Enfield was first surveyed along Enfield Street , between 1680 and 1700 . The walking tour begins at Enfield Street School and heads past Old Town Hall and Enfield High School . The tour continues past the Congregational Church , the former home of Orrin Thompson , the Jonathan Edwards stone monument and Martha A . Parsons House Museum . The afternoon will continue by car to the Smyth Trinity Dairy for a farm tour and refreshments . ( Tour starts at Enfield St . School , 1318 Enfield St . and ends at Smyth ’ s Trinity Dairy Farm , 4 Oliver Rd .)

Select a Session Session 1 – September 26 ( Rain Date Oct . 3 ) Session 2 – October 10 ( Rain Date Oct . 17 ) Fee $ 29 - Jim Malley No Surcharge , No Senior Discount Participants will learn about Enfield ’ s founding fathers , John Pease Jr . and Robert Pease . In 1679 , the two Salem , Massachusetts natives who built a shelter on the hill of the Enfield Street Cemetery grounds . The cemetery is also the site of the first church building in built in 1684 . We will walk the cemetery and locate the final resting places of Colonel Augustus G . Hazard , Orrin Thompson , Issac Kibbe , Martha A . Parsons , Dr Edwin Vail , and a few more former Enfield residents . We will learn about different symbols used on gravestones and try some grave rubbings .
