Room Change Process
There are three room-change periods during the academic year (see below) where residents can
switch rooms, no questions asked. Residents who want to change rooms must come to the Office
of Residence Life & Housing in the Ratcliffe Community Center to register their move. Additional
information about Move-Weeks will be emailed to your Stevenson email in late August.

Fall 2019 September 9 Pull-In Day: Residents with confirmed vacancies in their
room will have one day to pull-in a friend before the
room becomes available to all students
Fall 2019 September 10-September 13 All confirmed vacancies are published on the
Residence Life Portal and residents can choose a
space and move; first come, first served
Fall 2019 December 5 Spring 2020 Pull-In Day: Residents with confirmed
vacancies for Spring 2020 will have one day to pull- in
a friend before the space becomes assigned to an
incoming new student
Spring 2020 February 10 Pull-In Day: Residents with confirmed vacancies in their
room will have one day to pull-in a friend before the
room becomes available to all students
Spring 2020 February 11-February 14 All confirmed vacancies are published on the
Residence Life Portal and residents can choose a
space and move; first come, first served
Residents requesting to move rooms outside of these dates will be required to meet with their Resident
Assistant and/or Resident Director for room change approval.

Move Out of Housing
December 2019 - All students not returning for the Spring 2020 semester must be moved out of their
room and return their key to the Office of Residence Life & Housing in Ratcliffe no later than 10 a.m. on
Saturday, December 14, 2019 or 24 hours after their last final, whichever comes first, unless approved
for a later move out date.
Spring 2020 - All residence halls will officially close on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 10 a.m. Residents must
vacate their rooms and buildings 24 hours after their last final or by 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020
whichever comes first.
When moving out, rooms should be left in “move-in condition.” This means:
» » Remove everything from the room except university-provided items, including all trash and recyclables.
» » Clean the room and its furnishings. This includes vacuuming, dusting and mopping, if necessary.
» » Remove all stickers, tape, sticky tack, and personal belongings from the walls and ceilings.
» » Clean both the inside and outside of your door, removing any writing and adhesive from message boards.
