The Big 5
Ella Marchesani was the heart and soul of the team and will go down as one of the best athletes to compete in Basketall at Saddle Brook High School. The big question for this team was who was going to fill the final spot of the starting lineup. Ella Marchesani, Saorise Twomey, Prisha Patel, and Mia Ianneillo secured their spots, but the team was in need of one more person.
Freshman, Juliana Odum, showed what she could bring to the team as a rookie early in the season. During the season she has undoubtedly shown Coach Joe Columbo and her teammates that she deserves to be on the court with the other returning players. She was the third leading scorer on the team with a toal of 129 points.
After Ella Marchesani, the leading scorer on the Saddle Brook Girls team is junior, Saoirse Twomey. Saoirse has shown tremendous improvement from the two previous seasons with a total of 176 points. Saoirse has presented leadership, commitment, and persistence with all the highs and lows the team has been through and acts as an anchor to the team.
Mia Ianneillo, showed new found confidence and flexiblity in the sport when she changed from her position as guard last season, to become a forward this year. Her skill in mid range shots have have been essential in high-intensity games and she comes through in times of need. Her playmaking and passing resulted in her having a total of 68 points this season.
Finally, big, Prisha Patel, has shown resilience in the paint while fending off other centers and making moves to the basket. She has advanced in her rebounds, jump balls, and footwork since taking over the big spot. The junior has improved from her last and has become an asset to the team with a total of 78 points this season.
