Speed was also a major weapon for the Falcons. Junior Anthony Way hit .422 and led the team with 30 stolen bases while scoring 31 runs. His ability to get on base and create pressure for opposing defenses played a key role in the team's success.
On the mound, Vermilyea anchored the pitching staff with a 7-3 record, 64 strikeouts, and an outstanding 1.99 ERA across 49.1 innings. Ampudia added four victories and 60 strikeouts, while freshman Alex Garcia impressed in his first varsity season, posting a 3-0 record and a 3.18 ERA. Francin also delivered important innings throughout the season, finishing with a strong 2.84 ERA.
The Falcons' success was built on more than statistics. The team consistently demonstrated toughness, teamwork, and resilience throughout the season. Their strong regular-season performance earned them a spot in the NJSIAA State Tournament, where they represented Saddle Brook proudly and advanced to the second round of postseason play.
With key contributions from seniors, breakout performances from underclassmen, and a talented core set to return next year, the future remains bright for Saddle Brook baseball.
Congratulations to Coach Garrett Luna and the entire Saddle Brook baseball team on an outstanding 2026 season. The Falcons gave their community plenty to cheer about and have established a strong foundation for continued success in the years ahead.
