Swing Their Way to a Strong 17-Win Season

The Saddle Brook High School baseball team put together an outstanding season this spring, finishing with a 17-10 overall record and a 6-4 mark in the NJIC Liberty Division under the leadership of Head Coach Garrett Luna. Powered by a potent offense, strong pitching, and contributions throughout the lineup, the Falcons established themselves as one of the top teams in the league and earned a berth in the NJSIAA State Tournament, advancing to the second round of the state playoffs.

Offensively, Saddle Brook was one of the area's most productive teams, batting an impressive .391 as a team while scoring 192 runs and collecting 269 hits. The Falcons' lineup featured a balanced mix of power, speed, and consistency from top to bottom.

Junior Noah Ampudia led the team with a .459 batting average while adding 34 hits, 25 RBIs, and 60 strikeouts on the mound. Fellow junior Mark Francin enjoyed a breakout season, hitting .476 with 40 hits, 24 RBIs, and a stellar 2.84 ERA as a pitcher.

Senior centerfielder Elvis Martinez provided leadership and power throughout the lineup, batting .410 with 32 hits, 29 RBIs, 10 doubles, 3 triples, and 5 home runs. Sophomore catcher Logan O'Brien emerged as one of the team's biggest offensive threats, hitting .434 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs while posting a team-leading .928 slugging percentage.

Junior Colin Taylor was a catalyst at the top of the lineup, scoring a team-high 32 runs while batting .411 with 32 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, and 14 extra-base hits. Sophomore Chris Vermilyea added another strong bat to the lineup, hitting .457 with 32 hits and 24 RBIs.
