New Exoplanets Found Orbiting a White Dwarf Star

There has been another breaking discovery in the realm of space as the James Webb Telescope has discovered two potential giant planets that are orbiting white dwarf planets. These planets are named WD 1202-232 and WD 2105-82. This could provide insight into what could happen to our solar system when our Sun eventually dies out and becomes a white dwarf itself. The existence of both planets suggests that gas giant planets can survive the changes that their stars undergo as they develop into white dwarf stars. This is important in understanding the future of our solar system because our Sun will one day also become a white dwarf star.

Famous Exoplanets

Definition - An exoplanet is a planet that orbits a star other than our home star, the Sun. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune - these are the 8 planets in our solar system that we are all familiar with. However, we all know that there are more planets out there, and these distant planets are called exoplanets.

An exoplanet is a planet that orbits a star outside of our solar system.
