Perfect Pea-formance: Once Upon a Mattress takes the Stage
Saddle Brook Middle/High School’s “Once Upon Upon a Mattress” proved to be a truly extraordinary spectacle from start to finish, showcasing the artistry, tenacity, and dedication the Saddle Brook Music Department has been striving for through diligent months of preparation. Adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Princess and the Pea, the musical follows a young prince’s search for a genuine princess, filled with comedic twists and peculiar trials. None of this magic would have been possible without the creative leadership of Frank Ortega and the vocal expertise of Malcolm Couden, whose guidance elevated the entire production.
Bexx Sapinski brought a mix of bold physicality and nuanced comedic timing to Princess Winnifred, giving the role both heart and hilarity. James Jacobson brought the naive Prince Dauntless to the stage with his lightened energy and playful flamboyance, treating the crowd to laughter and charm.
