Because I wanted to coach, I knew I liked sports. I knew teachers coached that kind of stuff. Both my parents were teachers. My grandpa was a teacher and a principal, my cousin's a teacher. So we got basically teaching as the family business. So I kind of saw that it was a good thing. But really the three main reasons why I wanted to be a teacher are June, July and August.”
What's your favorite assignment to give to students?
“My favorite assignment to give to students, I really like John Adams's. I like talking about them. I really do like doing that. But I think my favorite like assignment, assignment to give to kids would be the Revolutionary War newscast, I think because that's a fun one. And it's like it makes you kind of do the research, but it also makes you put yourself in the shoes of those people. So I think that's kind of what history is to me. It's extraordinary people doing or regular people doing extraordinary things, and that's why we tell the stories. So that's why I think it's cool.”
As a US History teacher, who is your favorite president?
“I have a couple of them. I would say I like Big G Dub. You know, everybody knows I like Big G Dub Cuz. I mean you gotta give him a lot of credit for being as good as he was. And he was the first,
so he had nobody else to kind of give him an example. So you got to kind of tip your cap to that one. Gotta respect Lincoln because he freed the entire population of people. So how do you not say, hey, good job. You know what I mean? That that's a big one. And I'm a big Kennedy fan too.”
