TRACK TRIUMPHS
The Saddle Brook Track & Field team had a stellar season and won titles in every meet they entered. This large team was led by a strong senior class and had a lot of leadership from Coach Ciccone.The boys took the Group I title at the Bergen County Championships in May with 158 points and the girls came in 5th with 60 points. This year was one of the best track and field teams that has ever run or thrown at Saddle Brook High School and the men's team finished second in the Group 1 States. The seniors will be missed, but they have inspired a younger generation to follow in their footsteps. The team thrived this spring and had success at every turn. The strong bond that the whole team had, helped them reach these new heights and highlighted the importance of community and having quality teammates that you can rely on.
On June 3rd and 4th, 2022, the Track & Field Team competed at the NJSIAA North 1 Group 1 State Sectionals. The boys took 4th in the sectionals with 75 points and the girls came in 10th with 60 points. The team continued their winning ways at the Group 1 States and Zachary Hartung took first place in shot put with at PR of 52”9’ and Michael Ramos took third with a throw of 51”0’. The 4x400 Relay team made up of Colin Unis, Jake Deulia, Joey Quimby and Michael Banach took 2nd place in the Group 1 States with a time of 3:27.82 and broke the school record by 1 second. The 4x800 Relay team made up of Colin Unis,Nick Suero, Joey Quimby and Jayden Pinto took 6th place in the Group 1 States with a time of 8:37.23. Colin Unis also had a standout individual performance that saw him take 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 56.81 seconds. Everyone is excited to watch the future of SBHS Track & Field and will continue to root for the alumni continuing their careers in college.
