But in all seriousness, there’s a reason people don’t post their failures on social media – that would make them vulnerable. In our superficial world, the most perfect representation is what some hang their whole life on, both as the content creator and content consumer. As the creator, they become obsessed with making themselves seen as perfect. So much so that sometimes that reality becomes lost in the scuffle; that really messes with a person’s head. As the consumer, we see this perceived perfection and compare it to our actual, real lives. It’s a vicious cycle with no real winner except Mark Zuckerberg and his rich developer friends, which is pretty on point for pretty much everything in American society today. These digital serotonin-snatchers are the real danger.
Just remember, without the full story, comparison is unreasonable and pretty impossible. Don’t fall victim to this dangerous trap.
