How to Overcome the Struggles of Perfectionism

Awareness

The first step of any kind of attempt to improve oneself, is to be aware of what needs to be changed. By understanding the kind of struggle you’re facing, you can become more equipped to deal with it. If a person cannot accept they are dealing with an issue, they can never strive to solve it. Realizing that one tends to lean towards perfectionism in every aspect of their life, and that that prevents them from countless opportunities or completing tasks, is how it needs to start. Once one understands that is their work ethic, they can then begin implementing tactics to slowly adjust their habits and how they work.

Mindset Reframing

Another vital part of overcoming perfectionism and its negative effects, is reframing your mindset. Everything starts in your mind. Whether that be; thoughts, habits, beliefs, actions, etc. With getting over the struggles, your brain needs to be aware, and then it needs to begin to rebuild itself into something that can handle it. Turning your thoughts from “I can’t begin until everything is perfect” to “Let me just start and see from there,” is one way you can begin to adjust your mindset.
