 Resident Evil 2019 has long been credited for having started the recent trend of remaking older games in the industry, with it’s explosive sales triggering an avalanche of copy-cats seeking to make profit off dormant ips. In 2024, we’ve seen remakes of Resident Evil 2 - 4, a Dead Space remake, a Demon’s Souls remake, a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, a Last of Us Remake, a Final Fantasy 7 remake, remake after remake after remake after remake. 

While all these games are extremely impressive and have found their way into my list of all-time favorite games, I can’t deny the certainty that originality within this industry is beginning to surely lack as corporations retread the same grounds over and over again. A whole new generation of game developers are focused on enhancing the vision of someone else rather than toiling away at a creation of their own doing. Many of the games receiving remakes today have also not recieved proper ports to modern platforms, making the remake usually the only way to experience the game.  I cnull
