The Saddle Brook Cross Country team, coached by the dedicated and experienced Ed Ciccone, has had an exceptional season, leaving a mark in the highly competitive Meadowlands Division. The team’s efforts in various meets showcased their talent, teamwork, and relentless determination to excel. The team finished with an impressive 5-4 record overall and celebrated a major achievement by winning the League Title. The girls’ team, in particular, had an undefeated season, cementing their dominance in the division.
The girls' team truly stood out this year, earning accolades and setting new benchmarks. Their commitment to training and their remarkable camaraderie led to an impressive performance across the board. Leading the charge was Olivia Popawski, who earned a coveted spot on the Meadowlands Division First Team. Olivia’s combination of speed, endurance, and strategic racing solidified her place as one of the best runners in the division. Supporting her were three other standout athletes who made the Second Team in the Meadowlands Division: Raya Thomas, Rayna Rodriguez, and Carolina Banach. Each of these runners demonstrated grit and consistency throughout the season, contributing significantly to the team’s overall success. Additionally, Skyler Nunziato and Adriana Polanco received Honorable Mentions, a testament to their hard work and improvement over the season. Their performances in critical meets helped solidify the team’s reputation as a formidable competitor in the division.
