What inspired you to become a teacher?

Mrs.Greene has had many different jobs and life experiences but no matter what she did she has always enjoyed teaching others. This ultimately led her to become a teacher. “[I] was in a lot of different fields, I worked in the veterinary field, I worked in the performing arts field. But throughout [her] experiences, [she] realized that [she] was teaching people.” She loved interacting with people teaching them different things. So, she decided to become a teacher.

What did you do before you were a teacher?

Mrs. Greene began her career in the performing arts, being an actress and a dancer. She mostly performed in theater but also did some work in film. Later on, she was a director and choreographer, particularly in middle school and high school. “During this time, [she] went into the veterinary field. [She] was a veterinary technician, so she worked with cats, dogs, lizards, snakes, hamsters, a little bit of everything.” Mrs. Greene also assisted in surgeries, injections, and vaccines.

What is your favorite and least favorite part about being a teacher?

Favorite part of being a teacher is meeting new students and getting to know them. Every student has a special story to share.-Least favorite is grading, Ms. Greene does not like  when students miss work . Her favorite part about being a teacher is “meeting new students and getting to know students.” She loves interacting with the students and learning more about them “because everyone has an interesting life and an interesting background.” But, her least favorite part about being a teacher is grading her student’s work.

How has the pandemic affected you, as a teacher, this year?

Since this is Mrs. Greene’s first year teaching, she has nothing to compare it to. “[She] thinks it has been difficult to keep everyone on track.” Due to the virtual aspect and in-person aspect of teaching, it has been difficult to “keep everyone on the same page and make sure they are all working on the same thing.”

Why did you decide to work at Saddle Brook High School?

While Mrs. Greene was applying to a lot of different schools, she was drawn to Saddle Brook High School because “Saddle Brook had a science program with a lot of different options. So, you had bio, chemistry, physics, but you also had [anatomy, physiology, medical ethics, robotics, and environmental courses.]” Mrs. Greene also liked how Saddle Brook had a smaller high school where she can get to know each of her students and liked the “community feel.”
