Interview by P. Sloan Joseph with Atiba Jackson
P. Sloan Joseph: What are a few of your favorite scriptures? (2 or
more).
Atiba Jackson: Jeremiah 29:11 & Matthew 6: 9-15
P. Sloan Joseph: Describe how these scriptures have helped you
in your life.
Atiba Jackson: Jeremiah 29:11 gives me hope and reminds me
everyday not to worry because I am covered under God’s
promise. Matthew 6:9-15 is the Lord's Prayer. To me this is the
ultimate prayer of all prayers because it was given by Jesus. Daily
I personalize this prayer. Atiba's Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be thy name! First giving honor to God and His
Majesty. (vs. 10) May your kingdom come and your will be done.
On earth as it is in heaven! This verse is the most powerful
because this allows me to depend solely on God and His will for
my life. His kingdom are His Angels in the spiritual realm.

P. Sloan Joseph: What do you
currently do to nurture your
relationship with God?
Atiba Jackson: Balancing
being a wife, mother,
coworker, counselor, friend,
etc. can sometimes be
stressful. I wake up ninety
minutes before my family get
up. Recently, I committed to
doing a ten-minute morning
workout as a part of my
fasting (giving up sleep and
time). This is symbolic for
me to take care of myself
spiritually and physically.
You need to exercise and be
healthy in both areas.
