Then as we age we now have
that set of friends that we have
had for years or we settle and
stop trying to form new relationships. The friendships you may
have are comfortable and conversations are about their grown
children and grandchildren.
Sometimes at this age we tend
to not want to build new relationships. You may have to keep
taking risks by joining a connect group or joining a community group that is not only people
your age. It’s important to have
people in your life who are both
younger and older. You can encourage and learn from both.
Live life by leaving this world
empty. Pour everything you
have in knowledge and wisdom
into someone else’s life. It’s an
assignment from God to teach
the younger so find someone to
invest into. This will cause you to
lean into God for answers knowing you want to have a word in
season for anyone who is weary. Let times of loneliness draw
you into God’s presence to open
doors of opportunity to be used
by Him.
RESERVATION FOR ONE
Loneliness isn’t about being
alone as much is it about feeling alone. If you are the person
that has relationships but yet still
struggle with the feelings of emptiness and loneliness then you
must check to see if you have
reserved a place for God. We
have all been created to spend
time with Him. There are places
reserved in our hearts in which
only God can sit. No other relationship can fill the seat with His
name on the place card. Sometimes this loneliness can identify
our need to have Him fill more
space in your heart. If these feelings are overwhelming now it’s
time to check and see if you are
giving Him enough space. If you
allow loneliness to push you towards Christ then only good can
come from it. He longs to spend
time with the one He has created, designed and formed to be
like Him.
prepared for your life.
Revelation 3:20 NIV
Here I am! I stand at the door
and knock. If anyone hears my
voice and opens the door, I will
come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
David had bouts with loneliness
but knew the answer was in the
presence of Christ. He would
run to his answer knowing God
would bring him out.
Hear Him today, open the door
and let Him fill the voids in your
life. He waits for you to sit at His
table where He has everything
Psalm 25:16-17 (ESV)
Turn to me and be gracious to
me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses.
Know today, you are not alone
but you are loved and pursued
by a God who desires to fill every feeling of loneliness.
