My name is Daniel Gorski. I was born and
raised in Lombard, IL and live in Wheaton,
IL (about five miles west of my childhood
home). I am the youngest of six kids, the
eldest is the only girl who is ten years my
senior. I attended public school until the
beginning of fifth grade. A group of bullies
ganged up on me after school so my par
ents moved me to our Catholic parish’s
parochial school where I remained through
eighth grade. I met my perpetrator, a
priest just transferred from the neighboring parish, at the beginning of seventh grade.
He was beloved by my parents from his arrival
and was welcomed into our home which was situated only a block from our church. The abuse
continued for three years when he was suddenly
moved to an undisclosed location. We learned
that he was under investigation by the County
State’s Attorney and that the bishop moved him
to obstruct the investigation. After the investigation died, the priest was reassigned to a new
parish in the Diocese but in a different county. It
is now known that he had abused over 200 boys,
which the Chicago Archdiocese had covered up.
