rom February 24th to 26th, the
Caribbean Agriculture Research
& Development Institute (CARDI)
hosted and managed an agricul-
tural presentation at the annual
AGROFEST 2017, Barbados’ nation-
al agricultural exhibition. Visitors to
the exhibition had the opportunity
to observe agricultural innovations
of all kinds and in particular the
numerous varieties of hot peppers
and alternative feeds on display.
CARDI Barbados was happy to host
a wide range of individuals, from
kindergarten to retired persons, and
to educate them about all things
CARDI.

exhibition,
CARDI
presented the following:
Samples of hot pepper berries from
our current plots in the field which
included: West Indies Red, Moruga
Red, Phyllis, Tiger Teeth, Red

Congo, Scotch Bonnet, Joyce,
Yellow Congo and the CARDI
Green. These samples captured the
bright and vibrant colours of the ripe
hot pepper berries. The display also
revealed the different shapes and
sizes of these varieties.
2 Hot pepper plants in buckets and
potting mix bags: West Indies Red,
Scotch Bonnet and the CARDI
Green.
3 Forages in buckets and potting mix
bags: Mulberry, Mulato grass and
the perennial peanut. Highlighting
high quality forages which may be
used as an alternative feed or in
alternative feed mixes for livestock.
4 Alternative feed mixes were not
only on display, but samples were
distributed throughout the three
days of AGROFEST and contributed
