My wife and I have been camping for over 20 years and absolutely love it ! Although I camped with the Boy Scouts when I was young , we really became regular campers when my best friend from high school invited us on a weekend camping trip to Cape Cod . We showed up with borrowed everything : tent , sleeping bags , lanterns , and everything else necessary for the weekend . We didn ’ t even think to bring most things we actually needed , but we improvised and had a great time .

We would get together a few times each summer on the Cape and spend long days on the beach with our trucks , grills , coolers , fishing poles , and cool music by our side . When we started camping , campfires weren ’ t allowed at campgrounds on the outer cape due to fire dangers and environmental hazards . However , the National Seashore allowed fires on the beach if you secured a permit . So for a few years , we enjoyed our campfires this way . About 10 years ago , campfires were finally allowed at the campgrounds and as much as we enjoyed the beach fires , we couldn ’ t be happier than when we were finally able to have them
