Icy Cool Fun By Eri Akbar Here are some icy activities that require minimal preparation but provide loads of fun. Ice Sculpture You will need lots of ice cubes for this activity. Invite children to stack up ice cubes and create structures like an igloo, a castle, a ship or even just an iceberg. Offer fabric gloves to protect the little hands from feeling the chill while handling the ice cubes. Terry cloth works just fine too. The ice cubes should be fully frozen so that it's easy to handle individual pieces. This will also allow children to see the structures they have created before the ice starts to melt. To extend children's play, add Small World figurines like an eskimo, a penguin or Princess Elsa from Frozen. You can also opt to freeze the figurines in the water beforehand. For an exciting spin, add salt and vinegar to speed up the melting process and make the structures disappear.
