Eyes on Early Years Volume 16 | Page 3

Each meeting was very enjoyable and the feedback from the parents was positive, which was lovely for me. What it did make me reflect on, is how much parents do need the advice and support of a good nursery as their child grows, changes and develops. As experienced nursery practitioners we have should have experience of what parents are going through so we can help support them and take the pressure off of them to be the perfect parents. Often what parents need is someone to listen and reassure them that they are getting it right, or some helpful, respectful advice to give them more understanding about the choices and actions they can take in any situation. It is important that we give the right support at the right time and as nursery practitioners we should make sure that we have a good level of knowledge to be able to support families in a professional way. This is a big part of our role and we know that truly working in partnership with parents really makes a difference to the children and the families we work with. As you head to the end of the academic year, enjoy the warm respectful relationships that you have with the families and children in your care and don’t forget to take a moment to realise how important you are to them too. Have a great month. Take care Sarah Rogers C.E.O.
