Children love creating spaces of their own and one easy and inexpensive way to do that that is
by getting them to create their own playhouse.
Encourage your child to decorate the cardboard house. Apart from using crayons and paints,
how about pasting a collage made out of old magazine pictures or torn storybooks, or using
recycled items like bottle caps or yogurt trays to decorate the exterior? This project will be sure
to keep them busy for a few days.
Encourage your child to think about what could be added to the house to make it more homely
in the interior. For example, making a sign for the door, drawing a family portrait, hanging
curtains fashioned out of pre-loved clothes – this presents lots of opportunities for your child
to exercise his or her creativity.
Extend your child’s play by suggesting he or she hold a Teddy Bears Tea Party or a Puppet Show,
performing at one of the cut-out windows!
