MONSTER SLIME
SENSORY WRITING TRAY
By: Ashlee Steward
Why not make a monster slime sensory writing tray as a fun way to learn to write the
alphabet, practise phonics, name writing and sight words! You can even add googly
eyes; these are so much fun and this theme could be paired with many fantastic
monster story books to further the learning experience
FOR THIS MONSTER SLIME SENSORY WRITING TRAY YOU WILL NEED:
a shallow tray
large googly eyes
green paint (avoid food colouring as that will dye finger tips)
green glitter
a dash of washing up liquid (optional)
Simply squeeze a small amount of green paint
into a tray so that it covers the base with a thin
layer. You want to be able to see the base when
you trace your finger through it, or else it won’t
work. A shiny or plastic based tray is best, and
even better if it’s in a contrasting colour so that
the marks are clearly visible.
Then sprinkle some green glitter over the top
and drop some googly eyes around the edges,
keeping the middle area free for writing and
mark making.
You could even use this tray to write sight words
for 6+ years old to be copying and practising
spelling. It makes writing fun for them!
