PARALLEL SESSION 19 – UNLOCKING THE BENEFITS OF MOBILITY TO HEALTH OBJECTIVES
PERNET SEBASTIÁN
resolved that, every 2-year period, a key issue challenging people’s current lifestyle should be addressed in order to get the word out among the wide range of transport-related mobility stakeholders worldwide.
This time the link of transport with health is in the spotlight. With good reason. Depending on how transport activities are carried out and mobility services are supplied and consumed, the impact on health can be favorable or contrarily, it might arise life-threatening situations.
According to the EPA, the transport sector is the second largest source of GHG emissions in the United States, narrowly preceded by the energy sector. And the WHO has recently stated that air pollution is now the world’s largest single environmental health risk.
Mr. Sebastián PERNET is the Co-Founder and Treasurer of Youth For Public Transport (Y4PT) Foundation since 2013 when it was legally established by UITP in Brussels (Belgium, Europe); before that, he was part of its core volunteer workforce by supporting actively the pre-foundation agenda worldwide.
