A family legacy… CONTINUES What is your birth name? Neshia J. Ruffins Stage name? Noonie Taboonie What is your career background and where are you from? I’m from New Orleans, Treme area. I attended McDonough 35 High School and am now attending Southern University in Baton Rouge. My father is the legendary Jazz Musician, “Kermit Ruffins.” My mother is Leshiamre Ruffins, who’s mother (my grandmother), is the owner of the “ Little People’s Place” bar in the Treme area. What or who inspired you to do music? My dad, Kermit Ruffins introduced me to music and performing when he pulled me on stage with him to sing “This Little Light of Mine,” when I was about 6 years old! Since then I took piano lessons for a couple of years. I’ve been performing ever since. What would you say your journey in the music industry has been like?
