DID EMMANUEL & SAMMUEL ALWAYS PLAY TOGETHER?
“We actually played together all our lives, which is amazing.
I assume every man would want to be able to do that—to play
beside their brother for life. We played together in high school
and even went to the same university [Kansas State]. We
separated ways when we made it to the pros. Now, Sammuel
has his own business and I’m still playing—and, I still love it.”
ON SAMMUEL’S NEW BUSINESS
“He started a business from a vision he had and executed it.
It’s called G2G (Glory to God) Clothing and it’s going great,
so far. Also, he has his own music studio that’s located in Royal
Palm Beach, Florida—he’s been doing a tremendous job with that.
ON HOW HE’S PREPARING FOR THE UPCOMING
NFL SEASON
“First things first—every morning I thank my heavenly father—
he’s the reason I’m living to see another day. Then, I head down
to D1 Sports Training in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I work with
the trainers on my weaknesses, and even my strengths. I try my
best to stay on top of my game. I work on my strength and my
speed—tie both of those together—and also my agility. One day,
I’ll focus more on stretching and then the next day, I’m back at
it [strength] really, really hard. Mondays and Tuesdays are hard
days for me, so on Wednesday, I take it down a notch and do light
cardio. Thursday, I’m back at it a little harder. On Fridays, I get my
acupuncture and my massage to take care of my body. When I get
home, I watch film for 30 minutes to an hour and then go about
my day and spend time with my family—I spend a lot of time with
my family.”
ON HIS NUTRITION
“I’m so strict with my diet. That’s one thing I take to heart. My body
is an investment, so I’m careful with what I eat. Every morning
I eat egg whites, fruit and Garden of Life SPORT Whey Protein.
Sometimes, I mix peanut butter with the whey chocolate. If I switch
it up and go with vanilla, I blend it with some strawberries. I add
spinach to both and then blend it together. Then I cook up some
egg whites, turkey bacon, some fruit and a lot of water. I try
to stay away from fried foods as much as possible, but I do have
a cheat day once a week. I need that cheat day for me!”
The Lamur Charity—empowers disadvantaged youth through
athletics and life skills. The organization helps less fortunate
children everywhere, but the children of Haiti hold a special place
in the heart of this charity.
“The Lamur Charity [thelamurcharity.org] started two-to-three
years ago. It’s something that I’ve always done [helping kids], it
just wasn’t exposed until now. Little kids growing up always want
someone to look up to, and I want to provide kids with the support
and mentorship they need to make their dreams come true.”
“In Haiti, there are so many kids that deal with unfortunate
circumstances and they don’t have much in the way of clothing, games,
guidance, and so on. Now that I’m on a platform where I’m able to help
these children and give them hope—I do. We keep it simple: we apply
all of our wisdom, our knowledge and our life skills to help these kids.
At the end of the day, the youth is our future—the next generation.
We let them know that they’re not alone—we’re right here for them.
Many of these kids don’t really have a “family life” due to the hurricane
devastation or other reasons, so we pretty much give back with our
guidance and our time. Sometimes they just need time—they need
people to love on them and that’s what we provide. We want to get
all kids involved and teach them how to come together and work
together—then the world will be a better place.”
ON WHAT’S NEXT FOR HIM ON THE FIELD AND OFF THE FIELD
“After my NFL career is done, I definitely want to help out with the
orphans, the less fortunate kids, and just give back. When it’s all
said and done—when my time has come and I’ve hit my expiration
date—I want to leave behind my wisdom and my knowledge to
these kids. I just want to help out with the community and give back
with my time and with my love. That’s where my heart is.”
“The SPORT Whey protein is my
favorite, but the SPORT
Plant-Based Performance
bars are so convenient. I stick
a bar in my gym bag and eat it
immediately after my workouts.
Everything I burn during exercise,
I replenish with the bar right
after I’m done. The chocolate
peanut butter is my favorite.”
