Jennings learned a valuable lesson he conveys to his fans to this
day: when it comes to fitness, if you’re looking for easy, you’re out
of luck. And one ounce of prevention outweighs a lifetime of cure.
To be Rashad Jennings requires the batteries to run on full power.
While most people might consider meditation to be a silent time
of relaxation, for Jennings he is at his most focused when he
pushes past perceived limitations.
“There is the type of meditation where you hold still for so
long you become thoughtless and then go a little further to
a utopia of silence and peace, and for me there is another kind
of meditation,” said Jennings, “and I have done both. In a weight
room or running when you have pushed so far you are spent, the
step beyond that at the point of exhaustion, you’ll find yourself
in the opposite utopia and there is a peace in that also.”
The man who loves to beat people at the game of chess and
spends every waking moment in service to his craft, his family
and his faith, has every right to brag. But it's not his jam.

“There is nothing special about me, but the position I found
myself in is really special and I tell these kids when I speak at
schools and at Camp 180—I can’t make you be great, I can only
show you how I did it,” said Jennings.
Jennings prefers to live by example, including his eating habits.
He has the same breakfast shake 365 days a year. His shakes
include two scoops of Garden of Life chocolate-flavored plant-
based Raw Organic Meal protein, flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp
seed, beta-alanine, almond milk or coconut milk, and sometimes
he’ll add a banana for texture.
“I am a huge fan of Garden of Life and I have my shake every
single morning. I travel with a blender and it became a joke in
the NFL, all the chefs made fun of me saying, ‘here comes Rashad
and his blender…’,” said Jennings. “The shake is key because it
sets the tempo for how you are going to eat the rest of the day.”
Jennings’ favorite splurge is sushi, but even that is on the
healthful side of the menu. He cooks with coconut oil. He doesn’t
