You can let the employees know the indirect or direct results of their hard work. They will be in the loop about how their performance is doing good or bad for the company. Delegate tasks to employees instead of doing everything on your own. It is necessary to make the employees feel responsible for the tasks assigned to them. When you make the employees realize that you are trusting them to do a particular task, it will give them the much desired boost to complete the task. Make sure that you have a suggestion or complaint box installed so that employees are encouraged to express their grievances. The box should be opened once a week and all the notes should be read. Action should be taken if the grievance is genuine. Grievances hat will take time to solve or grievances that are not practical should be explained to the employees. Many employees like to be anonymous when they write a complaint and this should be respected. Apart from salary which is the biggest motivator to retain employees, there should also be additional perks and benefits. Many of these perks apply to all employees while others apply according to the position of the employee in the organization. The top management should also be made available to listen and engage in the exercise once in a while. This way, the employees will feel that their opinions are valued. Employee morale can also be boosted by offering training to them from time to time. This can be done in compliance with the changing requirements and times. Be transparent in dealing with employees and avoid unnecessary politics in the organization. Make the office environment fun and light hearted as far as possible. This will liven up the surroundings and the employees will enjoy doing their work. Overtime should be restricted to minimum. Last but not the least, ask employees what factors motivate them and once you get their suggestions you can work on what measures wou ld be practical.
