You can let the
employees know the
indirect or direct results of
their hard work. They will
be in the loop about how
their performance is doing
good or bad for the
company. Delegate tasks
to employees instead of
doing everything on your
own. It is necessary to
make the employees feel
responsible for the tasks
assigned to them. When
you make the employees
realize that you are
trusting them to do a
particular task, it will give
them the much desired
boost to complete the
task.
Make sure that you have
a suggestion or complaint
box installed so that
employees are
encouraged to express
their grievances. The box
should be opened once a
week and all the notes
should be read. Action
should be taken if the
grievance is genuine.
Grievances hat will take
time to solve or
grievances that are not
practical should be
explained to the
employees. Many
employees like to be
anonymous when they
write a complaint and this
should be respected.
Apart from salary which is the biggest
motivator to retain employees, there should
also be additional perks and benefits. Many
of these perks apply to all employees while
others apply according to the position of the
employee in the organization. The top
management should also be made available
to listen and engage in the exercise once in
a while. This way, the employees will feel
that their opinions are valued.
Employee morale can also be boosted by
offering training to them from time to time.
This can be done in compliance with the
changing requirements and times. Be
transparent in dealing with employees and
avoid unnecessary politics in the
organization. Make the office environment
fun and light hearted as far as possible. This
will liven up the surroundings and the
employees will enjoy doing their work.
Overtime should be restricted to minimum.
Last but not the least, ask employees what
factors motivate them and once you get
their suggestions you can work on what
measures wou ld be practical. Remember
that human resource is the most important
resource in the organization.
