Vahalia Pg. 10 Employee morale in an organization is crucial for retaining employees and also keeping them motivated to perform at their best. This should be a constant and continuous process in any organization to raise employee morale, irrespective of the size of the organization and the nature of its business. Research study from Warwick Business School suggests that workers who are happy are 12% more productive than other workers. On the contrary, unhappy workers could do more harm than good to your business. Their productivity may also take a beating. We will have a look at the most successful and cost efficient ways to boost employee morale. The first step is to recognize good work done by individual employees and praise them at each stage for their effort. You can either write a personal handwritten note or praise the employee in front of his colleagues. Employee recognition need not always be behind closed doors. There should not be any discrimination or favouritism for a particular employee. Treatment of all employees should be equal when it comes to praising them.
