that she can teach art to students who don’t have the opportunity or can’t afford art classes. “There’s a whole lot of talent in this town, but most people don’t know or care about it. I want to change that. I don’t know if I’ll succeed but I’ll try,” Megan said as she walked me around the studio. Downstairs, the art and talent is displayed from frames hanging on the walls, and beautiful pottery on tables. Everything is for sale, from watercolor paintings to penciled portraits, to hand crafted cutting boards.

Upstairs, though, is where the magic happens. It’s where the classes are actually taught. Windows make up 75% of the room, and when the sun sets, the view of Brewton is an art of its own. According to Megan, anyone can make art. It’s about “putting all the fear behind you.” It’s about saying “So what if I suck? At least I tried. And I learned.” For anyone interested in classes, they are $150 a month and that includes all the materials needed for the entire month plus four one-hour sessions.
