Knowing what pieces are the perfect fit can sometimes be difficult, as with finding the right group members. 28-year-old Tyler Kinchen, a 2012 Southeastern Alumni, founder of Tyler Kinchen and the Right Pieces, has learned to mix and match the perfect musical group.
Kinchen a Ponchatoula, La native stated he began creating music between the ages of 17 and 18. He also states that “at 17 my voice became deeper,and I would sing to girls for the fun of it.”
t was also around this time he decided to make a career out of it.
He stated he went and played at the battle of the bands, but loss due to going over his time slot. When talking about his childhood, Kinchen recalled it as wonderful. He also stated that after Katrina people from New Orleans moved into the country city building it into a more urbanized place.
Like most children growing up with Christian parents, Kinchen said he hated going to rehearsals with his parents and would sit in the back and play with his brother until it was time to go home. Kinchen said “I grew up listening to my parents and grandparents favorite R&B music, and I can say that I’ve heard so much Anita Baker, I’m tired of her” jokingly.
