New Flags -- New Eagle Scout
When it comes to being out in the woods , learning how to respect , protect , and help maintain natural resources , no program does it better than Clarksville ’ s Troop 4010 . Scout Gabe Ellnor , with approval and input from the Town of Clarksville , Origin Park management , OLIN Design , and a lot of free help from friends and family , took on the installation of two new flagpoles in the park .
The project , which required a great deal of research on Gabe ’ s part , was also helped along with the funds provided by River Heritage Conservancy and individual donors . The project allowed Gabe to become an Eagle Scout , the highest ranking in Scouting . “ Gabe really did his homework ,” said Susan Rademacher , the Conservancy ’ s executive director . “ When we asked about the placement of the poles , the importance of using Dark Sky lighting , even down to how strong the concrete would have to be to hold the poles , Gabe had it all figured out .”
The project is now fully completed with an official ribbon cutting that came in early Spring , 2024 .
The evening ended with a beautiful sunset over our beloved park , reminding us of what a gift our natural landscape has given us .
