Passenger Car RV Trends
.
The UK saw used car values come under pressure for most of 2016 as the market suffered from a little overheating. Whilst RVs were reduced
to reflect this there is mounting concern that the true impact of the war on diesel is not yet being seen.
One factor to consider is that whilst we are seeing some relatively strong
growth in RVs in general when you look at diesel in isolation, for example
the C1 Medium and E1 Executive segments diesel RVs are generally flat.
This means diesel values are holding down the RV index which means RV
setters are forecasting a widening of the gap between petrol and diesel
values.
However, we do expect the next 12 months to see some significant
divergence, with diesel RVs starting to be moved downward, especially for
vehicles on 36-48 month contracts.
