With thousands of installations worldwide and over 95 years of experience, Christie ® has built a reputation as a trusted provider of high-performance display solutions. Christie technology powers spectacular visitor experiences in theme parks, attractions, museums, cultural destinations, and live events around the globe.
Christie brings exceptional experiences to life with a wide range of versatile projectors designed for everything from intimate spaces to large-scale environments. Let’ s look at a few examples.
Connecting visitors to the experience of the Great War
Since its opening in 2006, the National WWI Museum and Memorial has welcomed over two million visitors. Dedicated to remembering, interpreting, and understanding the Great War and its enduring impact on the global community, the 7,430 square metre space features exhibitions and historic materials, and provides educational programs that reflect its mission. In 2022, the museum embarked on a technological refresh in collaboration with Electrosonic, an AV and technology services company and Christie partner.
“ We don’ t just ask how big of a screen size or what kind of audio system you want. Those are the wrong questions to ask. The right question is,‘ What do you want the guests to feel when they walk into a space?’” explains Chris Conte, executive consultant and global ambassador at Electrosonic.“ And that helps us define technology that delivers on a creative rather than just display what the message is.”
This approach is exemplified throughout the museum, including the Kemper Horizons Theater. Two Christie DWU1800- JS 17,800-lumen laser projectors light up a towering steel and brick wall with footage from the Great War, bringing the conditions of trench warfare to life.
A 4K experience at Building Centre UK
A hub for exhibitions and industry gatherings, London’ s Building Centre required a solution to replace a single projector set-up, and it had to deliver exceptional image clarity, brightness, and reliability, while also offering flexibility for a wide range of uses. It needed to support everything from technical CAD walkthroughs and architectural presentations to dynamic video content and live event streaming. Ease of use and remote administration were also priorities, enabling the Building Centre’ s in-house team to manage content and AV operations confidently, regardless of the event’ s complexity.
Three Christie ® Jazz Series laser projectors were selected to power a 15-metre-long( 49-foot) by 2.8-meter-tall( 9.2-foot) display. The 16,600-lumen 4K1600-JS projectors illuminate the L-shaped screen, which offers an engaging backdrop for presentations, product launches, film screenings, and brand storytelling at the hub’ s main gallery area. The project, a collaboration between ARC Audio Visual & IT Solutions Limited( ARC), distributor Audio Visual Material( AVM), and Christie, was completed in just eight weeks to meet a tight deadline.
The Building Centre is now the UK’ s only events venue with dedicated 4K ultra-highresolution screens for the built environment sector, supporting its mission to inspire, connect, and empower people to improve the quality of our built environment.
A new way to experience a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Visitors to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, Portugal, discovered a new way to experience its mystical gardens and architecture through an immersive nighttime show,“ Festina Lente”, created by Vortice Dance Company.
The show transformed one of Portugal’ s most iconic landmarks into a dynamic display of light, sound, and movement.“ Festina Lente” guided audiences through a series of projected scenes that reinterpreted passages from Virgil’ s Aeneid and Camões’ Os Lusíadas— two epics central to Western and Portuguese literary traditions.
Twelve Christie 1DLP laser projectors, integrated by Christie partner Total AV, were used across multiple areas of the site to illuminate the building façades, trees, and lakes with vivid imagery. The units were installed throughout the gardens and near architectural elements, carefully integrated into the natural surroundings. Because of the outdoor setting, all projectors were housed in custom weatherproof enclosures, camouflaged among vegetation to preserve the location’ s visual harmony.
